Aloe bitter sap

Aloe bitter sap is the yellow juice exudate -not the mucilagous juice or gel- produced from most aloe varieties. In fact, the aloe ferox, aloe barbadensis miller and aloe secundiflora are the best varieties to obtain this product. The aloe bitter sap -also called as aloe latex or aloe gum- is created in cells into the inner leaf skin, the so called peryciclic tubules.

It is a product mostly used to obtain aloin, aloesin, and aloe emodin for pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. This term is the same than aloe latex or aloe gum. It is in a liquid condition. When industrially cooked, it comes a green rocky product also known as aloe paste.

There are a few countries producing industrial quantities of this product, leaded by South Africa, then Venezuela, Kenia and Mexico.
